Secret Transmission 145 - new paints on the way?

If you remember the 5th Ed release teaser, it's just another crappy video this time showing splotches of paint in different colors. The only thing is what does the number "145" mean?

Great, time to stock up on all my necessary colours before it gets discontinued.

Am already stocking up my Golden Yellow for my Fists bro...hahaha!

either 14th May, or it actually have 145 colors...(which I doubt so =___,=)

If you've heard the rumours, it is stated 145 will be the total of paints GW is going to offer, of course it includes all the different types of paints.

The names are going to change too though that doesn't really bother me.

I don't think 145 colors. That's A LOT! And to stock that many different colours (current range about 80), is going to be quite impossible.

Heard they are changing the names to make it more "Copyrightable" too.

Basics

-Lots of renaming of colours, nothing is leaving.
-Different catagories now, Shades (washes) bases, layers, glazes (thin washes) and textures.
-Prices are unchanged.


Details

- There are 144 paints (the current line is only 73), so the range is doubling in size.
- Broken down into Bases (foundations), Layers (normal colours), shades (washes), Dry (essentially goopy paint for dry brushing), Glaze (thinned washes for easier blending), Texture (sand + colour) and Technical (liquid green stuff).
- Bottles are unchabged.
- Every color is renamed, there will be a white dwarf with a comparison guide released. Blood red is now wild rider red, Ultramarine blue is Calgar blue, skull white is white scar etc etc. There is a big expansion in the greens. There are pinks again, and more purple.
- Foundation white!! Named Ceramite White
- New how to paint book that includes a 90 minute DVD
- Mega paint set available year round now, but is super expensive apparently. Prices are apparently the same (for now).

Ah, wow... shit. I now don't know how I'm gonna stock so much!

most liky to happen to me here is went it gets here i going to be like for get the name and use my eyes and go " emm that one " a lot of emm ya i think that what they use bah going to happen . and may have to buy they new how to paint book this time.

Citadel paint categories:
a) Base
b) Shade
c) Layer
d) Dry
e) Glaze
f) Texture
g) Technical

1) Am I right by saying Base = foundation, layer = main colour, shades = washes?
2) Is Dry = paints meant for drybrushing?
3) Isn't glaze a thicker version of washes? What is this? I've never used it before...
4) What is Texture and Technical??

The new paint names make me feel like I've gotta re-learn what colours I am comfortable with . I really feel overwhelmed.... definitely looking forward to the comparison chart on what colours are similar to the 'old' colours.

A couple of the demon winners from UKGD last year who are PB members have had a paint testing day at GWHQ a couple of days ago and put their thoughts up today...
what reall got my attention is this

Thanks limp83! As a store owner, I'm having a tough time deciding how to stock and what to stock. 145 paints is a lot of range. What do guys think will be the most common range?

ok here what i think
most common range from the new stuff will be all the base color , the new yellow wash..
the one that i think no much attention will be pay is the new texture paint

Note : my opinion in this subject can be fully ignor as i am in Sabah and not likely speding over there ..for some time

@darthpoke: Don't thank me, LOL, I'm just snatch this from the interwarp... You should actually check with your frequent patron ;-) But I guess the answer would be "Stock 'em all", heh heh.

But ditto on Rev, I think most of the hobbyist already have ways to texture the base (sand, flock, resin, spare sprue, etc), but on the other hand, the texture paint would suit newcomer that just break in the hobby nicely..

ps: Did GW raise the price for the new paint?

oh and i do have some stuff that i can make mud texture paint with just have not put it to the test
