Just wanna get a few opinions regarding Dark Eldar Mandrakes.

Seriously nice minis, only infiltrators in Dark Eldar Codex (Odd huh?), not too expensive, not too killy either... thoughts?

IMO, nice mini is the only good thing about them. They have shooting capability which is quite okay, but cannot use them until they killed one enemy unit. Which is stupid lah kan it's not like their shooting is AP2 or AP3.

@Paxter : A unit can infiltrate if at least one model has Infiltrate USR. So if you have IC that has Infiltrate USR and joined to a unit without Infiltrate USR, they can all infiltrate. But IC without Infiltrate USR cannot join infiltrators (if you plan to infiltrate them) during deployment.

Ok next question...

For those of you familiar with my army, one of my few anti-tank units are two units of 5 Scourges, 1 with 2 haywires, 1 with 2 blasters.

After a few test-games, I find the 5-men unit too weak, so I'm merging both units into a single 10-man unit.

My question is, how should I arm them? 4 Dark Lances, 4 Blasters or 4 Haywire Blasters?

Scourges are one of the few units that can have 4 Dark Lances in a single unit. Makes them immobile firing unit, which I don't really mind.

Blasters are very short-range in my opinion... But Scourges are very mobile.

Haywire Blasters are the cheapest of the lot, but lack the punch... however if I've got 4 of them, they can be very nasty.

I prefer 4 haywires vs 4 dark lances... Lances make you immobile and it's a lance... Hitting is one thing pen or glancing is another...

For haywires it's 3+ 2+(6+pen) to a LR vs 3+ 4+(5+pen) for lances.

If you are going to use the scourges as a deep striking unit then arm them with blasters but if not arm them with DL. With a range of 36in you can do a lots of damage before the enemy closes in on you..
I would go with a 10 man unit with the normal scrounges in the front and the DL armed ones at the back.

As one who has fought your DE, i was more afraid of your Haywire Blaster than your Blaster.

This is mainly bcuz I have quite a no. of crucial mechanized elements which can be destroyed ezily with da Haywire Blasters. You don't even need to roll pen-6 result to destroy my vehicles - just getting 4-hits will almost guarantee that my vehicle will be wrecked from glancing hits.

Now you know why my favourite Crypteks in my Necron Royal Court are the Harbingers of The Storm with Voltaic Staff - Range 12" S5 Assault 4 (Haywire) cheers Twisted Evil !!

yeap my point exactly, I find my wych grenadiers doing the job of lances most of the time too.

4 dark lances still needs to hit, then glance or pen to do anything 5,6 to pen isnt that great when you glance on a 2+ with that many haywires you can wreck it far easier

if they were jet pack infantry even better tho Very Happy jump shoot jump lol

I've been playing with my DE recently too, and I also found that with that many number of lances, sometimes I can't even destroy any vehicles the entire turn.

I've actually decided to add in some elements of Haywires into my army, namely by using Wyches since they're the cheaper option for now.

If i were to play them i would use them as a rearguard anti tank unit... popping tanks from afar in the flanks, and away from infantry

the only reason i'm still considering blasters or dark lances is cuz those are my only answers to Grey Knights, especially Paladins.

My uber Grotesque unit cannot fight Force Weapons - they just need to cast Force, get 9 wounds and boom! 580pts down the drain...
