Tried for the 1st time using a 5 riptides list. Just wanted to test 1 time since I have them. Unfortunately for Kadir, we were the only 2 40k players that time. lol. He brought his Raven Guards army.

So my list is as below:

I let him chose the terrain to give him advantage so he picked the dense city terrain. And I rolled KP game. He won the roll and decided to go first. I castled at 1 corner to stay away as far as I can from his Centurions.
Kadir played very well with little room for mistakes. On 2nd turn, his whole army is in front of me. It was tense. Game lasted 6 turns ended with my Victory 12-8 points. He managed to kill 3 riptides which is pretty impressive.

With the list above, just had an awesome civil war against Pax's Tau Empire army. His list has:

2 x Riptides with Ion Accelerator, TL SMS


We fought in the city terrain with mission was KP. Epic battle fluff where the Tau Empire sent their army to hunt for Farsight but Farsight retaliate. There were 6 Riptides on the board! In the end no riptide died. lol
Pax conceded as I took down all his other stuff on turn 4, probably due to me starting 1st turn.

We discussed and agreed the next battle, he will bring his 4 riptides (1 of them is FW). Wooo hooo!!! Robot monster madness! 8 Riptides on board fighting.

arent signature systems 1 per detachment?

i dont remember the exact wordings of Earth Caste Pilot but can you take 2?

Had a test run with Hakim just now vs his Eldar list. Couldn't finish the game due to time constraint as I had to rush back. The list definitely have more problem with units with cover saves. So thinking of fielding in sub-commander torchstar which has on him a Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suite (which gives unit shooting ignore covers rule). Having hard time deciding what to remove to include him...

It was a epic fun game with me taking down 1 of his riptide first and him retaliated back taking down 1 of mine. Then in mid game, I was down to O'vesa riptide and the Heavy Burst Cannon riptide left. He still had 3 Riptides including R'varna. In the end game, only the Longstrike Hammerhead Gunship standing (or should I say floating). It was brutal. My only 2 riptides are both left with only 1 wound each left at the end of the game.

R'varna's weapon was scary. 1 turn, dealt 16 wounds on my O'vesa unit. We both enjoyed the brutal game though no combat was seen (typical of Tau). lol

After the post game analysis, found that my army has too many markerlights and too little guns. Will be tweaking it to be more efficient with some input from master Pax. Very Happy

Can't wait for the next time to try the new list! ^_^

Managed to try the list today vs Alvin's Nids. He wanted to test his throwdown list. he had..

His list couldn't give the Farsight enough pressure. Swarmlord unit was to first to go and the rest slowly got picked away unit by unit. Alvin then decided to try his ideal Nids for a 2nd try.
This time the battle was on the city fight, deployment was basic long table edge vs long table edge and he got first turn. Definitely not good for the Tau. Sad

His list was pure CC and numbers:

On my 1st turn I had 3 flyers on my face and 2nd turn will see a unit of Genestealers and a unit of Homogaunts charging me. I poured all my firepower in taking down the both Flyrants first. He underestimated the Skyrays. Smile

Then the battle was very compact on my side with all his little guys coming at me. In the end Farsight came through after killing all his Nids except a lone Zoanthrope.

They will have to think twice before invading the Farsight Enclaves. Razz

After 3 games with the list, what Pax said is true. There are too much markerlights and the army need more firepower to finish off a unit from the shooting of the Riptides. So time for some fine tuning. Smile

Had a game with Dann's DE ally with Eldar. He got to go first and and the first four turn was an uphill struggle for me as I lost 1 Skyray on 1st turn. Oh well.

So I pulled some strategy on turn 4 which was not agreed by my opponent but had to go with it anyway because is the rule and I was labeled uncool. Sad
(his flyer was stunned. zooming flyer that is stunned can only move 18" and cannot turn. so i placed some models on the area where he cannot move his 18" and thus forcing his flyer to crash)

Turn went to turn 6 and ended with me winning by 2 VP (he got 1st blood but I had an uncontested objective).

I only had 1 Riptide (with Heavy Burst Cannon), Farsight, 2 lone crisis Suits and Sub-Commander Torchstar left. He had his warlord Ancient, Farseer with 9 Grotesque, 2 Raiders, 2 Trueborn and 5 Wyches left. A very bloody battle indeed. Thanks to Dann for the game.
