| I read something at BoLS saying that JoTWW doesn't affect jump infantries. Is it true? If so.. where was it mentioned? The BoLS articleFunny thing is that JoTWW do affect jetbikes since jetbikes is subcategory of bikes (ref : SW FAQ). But not Jump Infantries? | |

| After a simple search with google and glances on the BRB...
JoWW only affects, Infantry, Monstrous Creature, Beast/Calvary, Bikes/Jetbikes.
Quick Answer: Because it IS not infantry nor is it a subcategory of infantry, although it has the word "infantry" in it.
Which means, damn, my battlesuits shouldn't have been chomped by those priests!!!
Edit: SW players~~~~

| But..Shrike's fleet ability which applies to all Infantry, also affect Jump Infantry.. so, in one sense it is also an infantry..so, how?

| wait and see.. for what to happen? What does it say in the SW codex? If it is as Jake mentioned, then there's no way around it --> Jump Infantries are excluded.
I'm sure Dann love this. His Longinus Initiative army is totally immune to JoTWW! hahaha.

| I have digital copies at my finger tips so trust me, . JotWW's fluffy explanation is that it creates "rock-fanged maws" on the ground, cracks to the earth, sending them tumbling to their deaths (paraphrase). So technically, jump infantries won't tumble to their deaths because they can fly away when that happens. But that's just fluff, a Hive Tyrant with wings is only stated to be "moving like a jump infantry" = so it's still a MC and will be affected by JotWW, GW logic. Yeah bad for him but still nice for my gargoyles. There's no mention of Jump Infantry as being a sub-category of Infantry in the BRB. Infantry is only mentioned in pg 4, and is still separate between JI entry (pg 5). JI is again mentioned in pg 54. In the special rule, "Oath of War", it mentions nominate a unit type etc. "infantry" or "monstrous creatures"As you can see the SW FAQ below... - Quote :
- Q. If the unit type that a Wolf Priest’s Oath of War
affects is declared to be Bikes, does the unit gain the benefit against Jetbikes, and vice versa? (p35) A. Yes, because Jetbikes is a subcategory of the ‘Bike’ unit type. Similarly, ‘Beasts & Cavalry’ are the same unit type, and ‘Jet Packs’ are a subcategory of the ‘Jump Infantry’ unit type. A Wolf Priest that has sworn his oath against one will still get the benefit of the oath against the other. Would suggest GW's intention would be to have "Infantry" and "Jump Infantry" to be different type of units instead of being a sub-category of the other.

| yup you are right jake i have just check the rule book.. in the unit type.. Infantry is separated from jump infantry. Where bike and jetbike fall into one. Unless GW can clarify that JI fall under Infantry then it would effect JI. So i guess JI will not fall to JAW anymore, but in most cases JAW is not normally use againt marine anyway. I think the unit that actually benefit s from this is destroyers. | |

| My Winged Chaos Lord also not immune.
What benefit this the most are Necron Destroyers, Wraiths and the Tau Crisis Suits due to their low initiative.

| I'm not a rules lawyer, but wouldn't Jump Infantry be a subtype of "Infantry" and so still be affected? | |

since the concept with Shrike's fleet ability is more or less the same, right?

| Actually, Shrike's Fleet ability is totally different from what we're discussing here.
Shrike replaces ALL instances of Combat tactics with Fleet - so whether you are jump infantry, infantry, bike, etc, you still get Fleet.
For what we're discussing here, Jump Infantry and Infantry are treated as TWO separate unit types (not a subtype) - you can look it up in the Rulebook. That being the case, and since JOWW specifically doesn't list down Jump Infantry, that means they are immune to the effect.
On the other hand, pls watch out for units that are Infantry but moves LIKE a Jump Infantry (like old Necron Wraiths). Hope this clears things up.

Yup.. that is the case of all Chaos Winged Lord. They can fly, but they are still infantries. Good thing coz as infantries, they can ride in Rhinoes.
