Battle Report: Grey Knights vs. Ultramarines

Deployment
Grey Knight
GM and Termi Sqd occupied the central forested location on the edge of their deployment where their objective (Castellan Crowe) is.
Ultramarines
Tac Sqd occupied the 4 lvl ruin on the left side with the objective (Techmarine) on the 3rd lvl. Rhino placed on the right of the ruin.
Turn 1
Grey Knights
Psyfleman walks in from edge. SR flats out forward. DK shunts forward. GM + Termi Sqd moves towards the SR. DK unleashes fire and incinerates 1 SM while the Psyfleman and SR destroys the SM Rhino’s weapon.
Ultramarines
DP arrives with Dread but scatters away from SR landing next to Psyfleman. All forces “walk” in. 1 Com. Sqd with LS took the left side of the building (blocked in picture).
Weaponless Rhino moves to block DK and pops smoke. Dread wreaks Psyfleman. Com Sqd in Rhino kills Justicar Thawn. All other available shots were directed to either the SR or DK but fared poorly causing 1 wound to the DK and shook the SR only; thanks in part to the GK Libby that successfully cast Shrouding.
Turn 2
Grey Knights
Thawn fails to get up. GK Libby attempts to summon the GM + Termi Sqd but scattered and they were misplaced to a far corner. SR moves to the edge while the DK moves in to charge the Com Sqd
SR wreaks LS on the left while DK assaults and kills 2 SM but was inflicted 1 wound.
Ultramarines
Dread moves towards SR. Libby + Termi Sqd rounds the ruin for a full view of the SR. LR and remaining LS repositions. Com Sqd in Rhino heads closer towards GK objective. Weaponless Rhino gets close to SR, hoping to restrict the placement of the units inside should the SR be destroyed.
All units bar the Com Sqd in Rhino unloads at the SR but only managed to destroy the TL MM, thanks again to the GK Libby’s Shrouding and bad UM shooting. DK wipes out Com Sqd and consolidates into difficult terrain.
Turn 3
Grey Knights
Thawn gets up. GK Libby attempts to summon the GM + Termi Sqd but was countered by UM Libby. DK moves off from difficult terrain. SR flies into difficult terrain and unloads Strike Sqd. GM + Termi Sqd decides to run towards the main battle.
DK immobilises LS. SR kills UM Libby with MS Missiles. Thawn shoots and destroys LS’s Typhoon’s ML.Strike Squad assaults Tac Sqd killing all but the Sgt. after Tac Sqd failed to break and were caught. Stirke Sqd lost 2 units with incinerator.
Ultramarines
Dread continues its slow walk towards battle. LR moves towards the SR and units inside prepares for assault.
Com Sqd and Rhino shoots at Thawn but Thawn saves all. Dread misses DK. LS deals 1 wound to DK. LR misses SR due to Shrouding. Chaplain + Ass Termi Sqd assaults Strike Sqd but looses 1 LC and 1 TH + SS before the battle due to dangerous terrain caused by GK Libby spell. In combat, Chaplain was killed due to TH and Tac Sqd Sgt was killed while the GK lost 5 units and broke off (1 TH+SB; 1 FH+SB; 1 FS+SB left).
Turn 4
Grey Knights
Strike Sqd continues to fall back. GK Libby attempts to summon the GM + Termi Sqd but scattered again, narrowly missing a mishap and landing on dangerous terrain (1 casualty). SR flatouts and faces off with Dread. DK repositions away from the edge. Thawn backs towards GK objective.
SR stuns Dread with TL LC but due to extra armour, shakes it only. DK shoots Termi Sqd but fails to wound. GM + Termi Sqd unloads at Termi Sqd killing the Sgt. and Assault Cannon Termi. Thawn shoots Rhino immobilising it.
Ultramarines
Termi Sqd moves closer towards DK. Ass Termi Sqd moves towards GM + Termi Sqd. Com Sqd exits Rhino and moves towards GK objective. LR pivots.
Com Sqd shoots at Thawn but nothing happened. Termi Sqd shoots at DK but fails to wound. LR shoots at GM + Termi Sqd killing one but failed to do any damage to SR. Dread assaults Strike Sqd killing the FS+SB with them failing back further. Termi Sqd assaults DK but fails to wound and lost 2 CF+SB Termis. Ass Termi Sqd assaults GM + Termi but was wiped out instead.
Turn 5
Grey Knights
Thawn backs off towards GK objective. Libby disembarks from SR. Libby teleports Strike Sqd that were falling back towards the UM objective. SR repositions closer to objective. GM + Termis ignore LR and moves towards UM objective.
DK kills off last UM Termi. Libby warp wrifts and wreaks Dread. SR wreaks Rhino.
Ultramarines
LR repositions a little. Com Sqd gets closer towards GK objective.
LR shoots GM + Termi Sqd and DK, killing off the DK finally. LS shoots at GM + Termi Sqd to no effect. Com Sqd kills Thawn again. Drop Pod shoots and causes 1 wound to GK Libby.
Turn 6
Grey Knights
Strike Sqd falls back again. Thawn gets up again. GK Libby runs towards GK objective. GM + Termi Sqd secures UM objective.
SR kills 1 SM from Com Sqd. Thawn misses in shooting. Thawn assaults and kills 1 SM but was in turned killed again by the remaining Com Sqd. UM Com Sqd then consolidates on the GK objective.
Ultramarines
LR pivots towards SR. Com Sqd stays put.
LS fails to kill Libby. LR and Com Sqd fails to destroy SR, taking off its last weapon and immobilises it only.

Summary:
From the battle report it goes without saying that the most impressive units were the GK SR, Libby + Strike Sqd and DK. They contributed the most havoc to the UM side, decimating almost single handed the entire UM army. Although the GM + Termi Sqd were delayed for most of the game, the earlier mentioned units were able to do most of the job.
There were some close call instances for the GK side in the moments highlighted below but Chris managed to pull through;
GK turn 2 : GM + Termi Sqd scattererd and got hit with a deep strike mishap
UM turn 2 : LR and LS almost downed the SR
GK turn 5 : GM + Termi Sqd scattered again and landed on difficult terrain close to UM units; near mishap again
UM turn 6 : LR and Com. Sqd almost downed the SR again, which could have made the game a draw
Aside from the first turn kill of the GK Pysfleman the UM will have to do a lot better when it comes to shooting. I learnt a lot from this game although I’ll need to read up more on GK and their special equipments. A lot of minor details of the game were picked up on hindsight. Oh well, let’s see how things go next time.
Chris, will need you to add in details of your units for the game. I can’t remember most of the upgrades you added. Thanks bro.
