| Subject: Hobby Forge - The MAD Event. Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:28 pm | |
| Welcome to the first ever Massive Assembly Day event. This event will be held on the 3rd of March 2012, a Saturday, and the event will start from 12pm and ends at 7pm. The date might change due to the fact that I might have an exam on that date, but I will definitely give a heads up if there is a change.
This event is for the disciplined mind. You need to be able to sit down and assemble non-stop for 7 hours.
This event is about: Assembling, for the entire duration of the 7 hours, all you gotta do is assemble miniatures. Non-stop.
How can you benefit from this event: Get your stuff assembled. Especially for that new army that you've always wanted or to complete your never before worked on imaginary army.
Rules: 1. NO glued parts prior to the event. 2. You may glue your magnets to your bits prior to the event. 3. You MUST bring your own tools and materials. This is to minimize the constant need to share, as you might deprive your friend of the tools/materials that are needed and there will be a wastage of time. 4. You may prep, clean, and file your bits before the event to allow for easier assembling. 5. It is recommended that you have your basing material glued to your base, as this event is solely focused on the assembly of miniatures. 6. It is recommended that you bring your own cutting mat. This is to minimize the damage that will be done to the main hobby table. 7. Miniatures may consist of different codices/armies. 8. Snap-fit miniatures are NOT allowed. Leave those at home. 9. Mind your own trash.
Scoring system: Warhammer 40,000 1 point for small based miniatures.
2 points for medium based miniatures.
2 points for miniatures on small flying stands. Example - Tyranid Gargoyles.
3 points for small sized vehicles. Example - Bikes, Attack Bikes, Reaver Jetbikes, Necron Destroyer.
4 points for miniatures on large flying stands. Example - Land Speeder, Land Speeder Storm, Eldar Vyper, Dark Eldar Venom, Necron Catacomb Command Barge.
4 points for large based miniatures or walkers on large bases. Example - Tyranid Carnifex, Dreadnought, Daemon Prince.
5 points for medium sized vehicles. Example - Rhino, Razorback, Chimera, Ork Trukk.
6 points for in between medium and large sized vehicles. Example - Leman Russ Variant Tanks, Dark Eldar Ravager, Dark Eldar Raider, Eldar Wave Serpent, Eldar Falcon, Eldar Fire Prism.
6 points for oval based miniatures. Example - Tyranid Trygon, Dreadknight.
7 points for large sized vehicles. Example - Land Raider, Ork Battlewagon, Defiler, Soul Grinder, Necron Monolith, Necron Ghost Ark.
9 points for oval based flying vehicles. Example - Imperial Guard Valkyrie, Stormraven, Dark Eldar Voidraven Bomber.
12 points for extra large miniatures. Example - Ork Stompa, Baneblade.
Warhammer Fantasy 1 point for 20mm and 25mm based miniatures.
2 points for 40mm based miniatures.
3 points for 50mm based miniatures.
3 points for miniatures on small flying stands.
4 points for miniatures on large flying stands.
4 points for artillery units.
6 points for monsters. Example - Dark Elves War Hydra, Empire Steam Tank, Lizardmen Stegadon.
10 points for extra large monsters. Example - Chimera, Terrorgheist, Dragons, Mammoths.
Flames of War 0.5 points for an infantry based miniature.
1 point for small vehicles. Example - Halftracks, Jeeps, Bikes.
1.5 points for small tanks and artillery bases. Example - Sherman, Firefly, Pak 40.
2 points for medium to large sized tanks. Example - Panther tanks, Tiger tanks, King Tiger.
Only COMPLETED miniatures are allowed to earn their points. However, it is understood that certain parts of the miniatures could not be glued before the painting process, so the usage of blue tack is encouraged. You may use blue tack to put your miniatures on their bases.
For example, if you paint the shoulder pads separately or maybe you'd like to paint your marines without their heads/backpacks, use blue tack to hold it in place before the end of the event so they could earn their points. Certain vehicles like the Valkyrie and the Stormraven will have those transparent plastic. It is understood when they're not assembled for the purposes of the event.
Vehicles must be completely assembled, this includes the smoke launchers, searchlights, default weapon options. Crew members of vehicles need not be present, but vehicle operators such as bike riders, drivers, and gunmen, need to be included. For the Dark Eldar, you do not need to add in those hanging passengers for your vehicle completion.
Gluing a Space Marine on a large base will still earn you 1 point. I'm sure you get the idea.
A minimum of 75 points is needed to be eligible to complete this event. With careful planning and a mixture of different sizes and complexity of miniatures you can achieve much more than 150 points in 7 hours. The key here is to plan.
The participant who managed to complete the event with the highest total score will have their name honourably engraved and displayed on a commemorative plaque in Hobby Forge as one of the Hobby Masters of Malaysia. (Plaque design pending)
Any questions or suggestions do post them here. This is also the time for you to calculate what you need to do and how many of what you need and to let me know what you want me to restock for you.

| I would like to know if there is anyone who dares to take up the challenge, if not then I'll probably treat it as a normal Hobby Day where we just sit and assemble stuffs and I'll not time and judge this event. Personally I've readied a lot of stuffs to be assembled on the day itself. | |

| Hey Alvin, Due to recent updates on my work, I unfortunately cannot make it to this event. I really intended to attend this event as I have a few things I'd like to assemble. Heck I have already placed them aside! Unfortunately, there is a high possibility I will be back in Brunei then. Although this news upsets me, I have to abide it. Kena cari makan... I understand that you may have bent some rules in order to suit me. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. | |

| No worries man, it's always understandable when it involves your job, family, or welfare. There're some things a man has to do. | |

| instead of cancelling it altogether, why don't we have a show of hands? as far as we know, 50pts is good enough for you & me, so why don't we start from there first.
to anyone who want to join this event at 50pts, please step forward and make yourself known.

| Well, I would like to join if I was more lazy about assembling stuff. lol
At most if I went crazy with my money, I could buy one box of gargoyles and two boxes of termagants. That'll only reach about 40 points?

| I do hv Dark Eldar to do, but that's only... less than 30 pts. Even if I have everything I need to assemble for K3, that's barely 50pts. | |
