Hello everyone, my name is Ihsan Bin Khalid and im a self employed entrepreneur in putra perdana. Ive always wanted to get into 40k but never had enough money till now.

hey thanks, i got many questions about the models

Especially on painting the few i have at the moment. i have zero idea how to get this tank painted the way i want and wonder if anyone could help me

I did not realize you were into 40k and IG for that matter... Since you love IG tanks you should meet spunkybass he has a full mechanize IG army

i did but i never had the money to buy most of the stuff till now. I got more interested after seeing what the baneblade could do i just had to get one. Im a real tank nut yes

Also You can google out tutorials on painting.. IG should be quite easy tho... find some references and a theme for your IG army and i can help you along the way.

btw paint yourself la more satisfying if you so takut to messed up i got an Leman russ hull you can take for practice... but its missing the turret and side sponson

you're definitely in the right place. im sure there are a lot of people in the forums who can help you with painting up that tank of yours. Pax is spot on about Mr.Chaos. he is a deity when it comes to painting.

it would help us to help you if you could specify how exactly you'd want the tank to look like and what model tank are you referring to as well.

And it helps that a number of players here play flames of war and I think i can count the number of WW2 tank nuts on this site

im going for a red and dark grey color scheme at the moment and its a baneblade. I wouldnt mind debris and battle damage on it either to appear more rugged and battleworn. If you guys need a pic of it as it is now i can post one

urm no... lol those are super heavy tanks. You use them in apocalypse games.

Basically there are a few variants of 40k.

Warhammer 40k
- are games that revolves around using your codex and building a competitive army from it, usually games at tournament level is cap at 1500 or 1750 points.

But for starters like yourself on a budget, what people usually do is build an army at 500 pts first to let you get started on the table and learn the rules of the game (mainly troops and a HQ) then to 1000 pts then finally to 1500 and beyond. This are the games you will be most likely play 99% of the time.


Warhammer 40k Apocalypse
- are Megabattles with armies ranging from 6000-40,000 pts and beyond those super heavies are in this category they are massive pitch battles that take a whole day to habis.

There are a few other variants of 40k - Battlefleet gothic (space ships) Aeronautica imperialis (air combat), Epic 40k (massive battles with titans the size of klcc ) and many many many more. Not to mention the 40k expansions as well.

Welcome to the forum dude. IG is one of the most fun, flexible and powerful factions you can get into. And you can always draw on historical and contemporary military for painting inspiration. Also, there is a scenario that pits 3 Baneblades againts a regular 1500pt army. I have a few Baneblades, so maybe we can tag team.

well in that case my mighty army consists of 7 guys and 1 commisar. I think its still a while before i enter any games with them.

I actually know quite a bit about the background of wh40k, mostly from playing the video games (which i know dont exactly represent things) and visiting the lexicanum site.

is it tradition to name every army you have and make backstories with them or do you just get to the game btw

ok wasnt expecting that, i thought baneblades were ultra rare, but yes i totally agree, i was originally going for a black and red british 18th century british redcoat look but then my brother kept telling me that was dumb, now im going for a hive world raised regiment instead.

Never did find Praetorian model soldiers either anyway

You can make backstories or build one as you go... especially the IG

As the IG tend to ship off new regiments off to some hell zone and they stay there without reinforcements till they either get wiped out or absorb into other regiments...

so you could build your backstory as you play and ur army changes as you play more... for example you can paint your tanks all clean and simple first, then slowly add paint damage, score kills, weathering etc...

Yea fluff wise a lot of things are ultra rare... take the terminator armour... i think i have easily wiped out some 100++ termies in the last 10 years of playing.. not to mention killing special characters that tends to reappear the next game i play

Praetorians are cool! One of the great things about 40kmis that you're not limited by history. Just make up a good theme and go for it!

Mostly from your space hulk games 15+ years ago when you barely knew how to play and the genestealers ended up kicking your ass several times before you knew how things worked
