| http://www.3plusplus.net/2013/03/more-tau-picturez/Read the comment section as he posts some rules and other models that are coming out too. I would definitely preorder a Riptide, it just shouts "DESTRUCTION" in my mind. Bu damn is it expensive, the same price as a Stormraven. Everything else depends on after reading the codex, there are tons of new drones and I'm not sure if they are compulsory or beneficial to me. Depending on the rules of the flyers, I might get 1 or 3, but that's far in the future since they are not as appealing as I expected. XV88 costs like 20-30 bucks more than before, considering they nerfed the railguns too, don't think I'll be buying anymore even if they are differently scuplted. Thank god I have 2 Hammerheads back home, at least they became rail cannons instead. | |

- Skyray can shoot and ground and air targets (one assumes at full BS).
Stealthsuits are better at overwatching shooting at BS2Special character is "like" Chronus for tanks. Tank Hunters. Potential cover boost.
Tank can overwatch. Hammerhead roughly 160-170 WITH character.Special Pathfinder - Nightstrider.
Riptide roughly is T6/W4/2 Sv/5 invul with the special option working on a 3 or higher (i.e. 3plusplus , better blast, etc.). Around 175 pts with Ion Cannon (S8 Ap2 blast; super charge takes to S9?). Maybe more than 4 wounds - 5 wounds!? And more gun options outside of Ion cannon - supporting missile pods?
Fast Attack is where new fliers are going and we still have Pathfinders and Piranhas (which are cheaper I think).Â
All Ion weapons have a 'supercharge' option but at a risk (gets hot?). Drones can have Ion weapons.Interceptor drones are in!Heavy drones with actual weapons AFAIK.
Some have been shown to have ion weapons - there are 6 drone types (see below).Repulsor field. D6 s4 ap- hits to attacking units at I10Supporting fire allows other Tau units within 6" to overwatch a charging unit as well. Not sure if this is all Tau units or just specific types.
Markerlights are for all intents and purposes, the same. Buff BS, remove cover. BS can be buffed for Overwatch but not sure if this counts for Skyfire, too.
Grav inhibitor Pulse accelerator Recon drone (which can fit in the turret cupola of a devikfish and provide communication relays and fire support)Cadre Fireblade - IC with split fire, markerlight, supporting fire, volley fire (+1 shot for Pulse Rifles/Carbines if unit and IC do not move). Upgrade for Fire Warrior units - not sure if an actual IC or just has LoS! properties, etc.
85 pts gets S8 AP1 Skyfire for Broadsides; same statline Railguns are now S8 Ap1 base - rail cannons are S10 AP1. Sounds good looks like tau getting more special characters which is fitting as im sure by now there are more vets and renowned characters in this young race... it does look like tau is a cross breed between eldar n IG huh?

| Okaylah tu.. They deserve it. It's not like other codex is lacking in the cheeze department kan.
Haven't fought any TAU for years already. Looking forward to see more TAU on table.

| But then again.... They should be uber in shooting and crap in CC which sounds just about right with the rules from WD. Dun call cheese when u play old deamons n necrons Personally I am glad the skyray got its teeth back, Now its a real Heavy support. Btw notice that the markerlights give +1 BS and - Cover save, wonder how we fire our seekers now? JENG JENG JENGGGGGGG.. And that Ion weapons are viable builds now that u can overload the weapon into practically a fire prism. Anyway I am guessing that the new famous build will be 3 of those huge clankers and 2 hammer heads 1 skyray with the rest troops, some pathfinders and a bodyguard unit for the boss.... | |

| daemons are not cheese now. necrons is cheese that's why i don't play them much anymore. i heard that the markerlights able to affect the BS even if it is snap firing. If true, then that's quite cheese. no flyers are safe from Tau. i do want to see a clash of the titans between a Riptide vs a Dread Knight. Both are impressive figures! | |

| Hahaha, you'll see a Riptide and a Dreadknight working side by side instead from me.
I would say no matter how strong the Tau shooting power gets, close combat are their No. 1 weakness. With armies that can either assault in turn 1 or turn 2, the problem would still be that there is not enough turns to fire their weapons. Once a unit is locked in combat, it is guaranteed to be wiped out.
I hope to see more details on the 'within 6" overwatch' rule, would mean my 72 firewarriors might actually be viable to use, coupled with markerlights working for overwatch.
Getting 3 Riptides is super expensive, I don't think many people will try to do it.

| that's assuming point wise they are cheap. You don't see people playing 3 stormravens and 3 landraiders, or 6 nightscythes and 3 deathscythes. Nevertheless, unlike other armies, Tau can't spam without having an overall synergy in the army.
Who spam units to win these days anyways, I field lots of firewarriors cause that was how I wanted my Tau army to look like first (rank and file), but it was proven to be extremely weak in 5th ed.
I haven't tested 72 firewarriors in 6th ed. but I played 60 of them against Marcus's Dark Angels filled with super bikes and super tough deathwing terminators and I know it can at least stand a fight against older codexes. I manage to reduce his bikes from like 30 to less than 10 i think, but I almost got wiped out.

| sigh.... my poor bikes...
but seriously that fight would've/could've ended on different terms if you had more plasma... which I don't think will be a problem.
furthermore, it seems that gw wants to make us buy more stuff so they are lowering the price(pointswise) on each unit. for example, tactical greenwing is at a lower points cost compared to the vanilla counterpart. Who really needs the free veteran sergeant for a backfield unit? the customizability makes it cheaper.
maybe, who knows, suits will become much cheaper or you could take a squad of 6. although i think that could potentially be overkill...

| rumours suppose to be pointing a semi-jetpack monstrous creature, as in he needs to direct its power to one specific system, such as using its jetpack move or power up his Ion cannon. | |

| I can imagine a mecha series called RIPTIDE WING now: teenager Tau drops into the mecha's cockpit by accident and fights to save Tau-kind... OR is asked by his father the Ethereal to pilot it or leave. | |
