More new war-games and more money going down the drain! Has anyone started playing Dust Tactics? And now with the new expansion in the form of Dust Warfare, I'm sure this game is growing their fan base rapidly. I'm for one stoked after seing that video. For those who know the game, do we need the Dust Tactics core set before we can start playing Dust Warfare?

The awesome thing is, it's pre-assembled and pre-primed.
There's only two factions at the moment, the SSU? is coming.
One question I want to ask though, how big an army does one need for an average game?

After some searching, as far as I can tell, Dust Tactics is played on terrain tiles whilst Dust Warfare is played on miniature sceneries. The former one, you move by how many tiles a squad can move, whilst the latter is basic inches.
Basically Dust Tactics is originally just a boardgame whilst Dust Warfare is made to play a wargame.
So I guess you don't need the Dust Tactics core rulebook to play.

Missed this thread when you started it!
Khairul had to bail on Hobby Night this week, but we'll definitely be playing Dust next week. The new book Dust: Warfare just came out, and that has rules for playing with the Dust figs as normal wargame (not a board game). I think the models look great, and it's a great change of pace. Once my FOW Soviet army is done, I'll be posting mostly Dust content for the next month or so as I get my Allied models all painted up

I guess I'm more keen with tabletop version so will be getting the warfare core rulebook pretty soon..

My interest was piqued when it says you roughly only need $200 worth of models plus the core rulebook to play an average tournament game.
I might actually buy them Axis Walkers and proxy as my second or even third unit of broadsides OMG, after watching the review of a medium walker, it's bigger than a dreadnought, costing just around RM75. And yes, for some reason the axis appeals to me more with it's mechas and zombies.

To sum it up, Dust Warfare is cheap, the models are pre primed and it looked awesome at the same time. But I'm getting the core rulebook first and see how the game works, more importantly does it has that appealing factor. From the exterior it already looked awesome, we will see. Plus 40k 6th ed is coming out pretty soon, got to be wise in the budgetary department.

Mmm, where can one get the Dust Warfare rulebook? Perhaps I should ask where can one get the miniatures first.

The miniatures can be had at Toybox. They are well stocked, and I believe they are still running a sale on Dust stuff. Khairul picked up a light and medium walker for me, along with a squad of Grim Reapers. He also got me the colossal Allied heavy assault walker:
They've got the stuff if you want to get into it. The Sino-Soviet models start coming out in the next month or two according to FF interviews at Adepticon

I checked out their webpage and the models look damn pretty. I will decide if I will join this game system, later.

It is quite a bit cheaper than GW for sure. For example, a standard medium walker in Dust goes for RM 75. A GW dreadnought goes for RM 138 (roughly). Dust models are also pre assembled and primed with the faction base color. Walkers also come with serial numbers & markings painted on. All I've had to do is highlight some details, repaint a few sections, and do weathering on them to finish. I'm impressed.
After Bagration is over, Kahirul and I are definitely going to build a table and scatter terrain specifically designed for Dust: Warfare. It's gonna be a hoot!
