K4 (25.5.2013) FAQs

Making a thread for K4 FAQ (Frequently/Forseen/First Asked Questions) which we'll update as necessary until May.

Although we strive to ensure that our rulespack are perfect, sometimes mistakes and ambiguous questions do creep in. When such issues arise, we feel that it is important to deal with them as promptly as we can.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have or would just like to confirm on anything.


Q. In Kindred, there are 2 different armies in 1 team. How does that work?
A. It works as if both armies are allies towards each other, thus follows the rules of Allies in the 6th Edition Warhammer 40,000 rules set. However all armies are considered to be 'BATLLE LOVERS' which is exactly the same as 'BATTLE BROTHERS' without any restrictions from the Allies Matrix table (pg.113 BRB). Yes you may play Blood Angels and your teammate may play Tyranids. Go crazy.


Q. So no HQ at all? How about units which requires a HQ to be unlocked for selection?
A. No HQ slots in the FoC can be filled/taken. Similarly no units which initially requires a HQ slot to be filled in the FoC can be taken as well.


Q. How about HQ units which becomes non-HQ if another unit is taken?
A. If it does not require a HQ slot in the FoC, then it may be taken.


Q. Can i bring flyers?
A. Yes you may bring any flyers with hull points but a player is limited to 1 flyer. (limit of 2 flyers per team)

Battle Brother rules don't allow us to share transport. Will this restriction be ignored for the sake of K4 craziness?

I got some question

1. Does Expandable benefits from any AOE special rules given from the army. e.g Sang Priest Furious Charge and FNP?

2.I notice no independent Character. So does Expandable is able to be attach to any squads in the army?

3. Can Expandable embark and disembark any Transport Vehicles?

4. Expandable hand Grenade is Str 8 to everything or just vec? and what AP? Can hand grenade be use against vehicles in close combat?

5. Other than 1 troop compulsary. Does the army still obey standard game FOC? 3 FA 3 Heavy 3 Elites 6 troops?

6. Finally what base must Expandable in? terminator base or std infantry base

A. Yes. This HQ choice follows all the same rules as HQ in the 6th Edition Warhammer 40,000 rules set but without the need to roll for Warlord traits. (pg1 K4rp)

A. S8+2D6 for armor penetration only. it has no AP (AP -). Yes it can be used against vehicles in CC. (pg61-62 BRB)

5. Other than 1 troop compulsary. Does the army still obey standard game FOC? 3 FA 3 Heavy 3 Elites 6 troops
A. Yes. This tournament will use the 6th Edition Warhammer 40,000 rules set. (pg1 k4rp)

6. Finally what base must Expandable in? terminator base or std infantry base
A. Any small or medium-based is sufficient. (pg1 k4rp)

Can the combination of armies be taken from the same type/race/codex?

E.g: Player A (BA) 700pts + Player B (BA) 700pts?
