@Din, I think AK already addressed venue issue, and it's one of the reasons I like this. Players arrange among themselves. For people like me w very limited game-time, it's awesome news.

Painting really isn't very important aspect to look at here. But at the same time, I want to hold on to certain level of painting standard. That's all.

yea I get u on the "most bad ass" player out there with that said you will turn off those who actually bother to paint their minis. A good compromise would be to have a side small competition for the painters.

I use AB for quite a while now since buying one copy got 3 I can install anywhere n now made easier with its mobile compatibility Always have AB on and keep playing and changing my lists on the fly.

So AK u wanna move this up to the second phase? tabling a motion and getting it running for real? Besok is friday maybe u should drop by legio and propose to the guys and see if you can get their blessing to do the finals there. I would suggest doing so cause Legio has no store affiliation. Plus the space is ample to kau tim a number of games the same time.

Btw how about getting the various stores involved as well via a qualifier stage? Buat macam season bola la, so the top two move up into the finals which will be held at legio. Winners store can get a plaque stating "throne of skulls champion 2013 --name-- and --store--" And a small caption below that certifies this store is the birthplace of the official bad ass of 40k 2013 Even at store level buat death match so the stores games are done in the first week, the second week is the finals

too many layers la... stick to the basic idea dulu... 16 players. If there's a lot of interest, baru expand it to 32. That way, you don't lose the KO element. 32 -> 16 -> 8 -> 4 ->2 -> 1.

If you want, talk to the stores for promo purposes. Finals @ Legio should be easy to expedite.
