It’s time for Warhammer folks, and we’ve got just the event to help you get an army done for this great game. Called the “Legio Army Throwdown II’, it’s a long term event that combines aspects of ‘Tale of Two Gamers’ articles and the Iron Painter into an event specifically designed to help and motivate YOU to get a new army project done.
Basically, it’s a series of mini hobby challenges that culminates in a vote for the best overall army. Participants bring completed units to each specified “throwdown”, and let the voting public of Hobby Night attendees vote which is best. Painting for the first ‘Core’ challenge begins on October 8th. All registrations for the event must be made by then as well. There is no cost to participate.
Participants start with a 2,000 legal list, with no models painted. Models may be assembled and primed white, grey, or black. Bases may be textured as well (or resin bases used) but cannot be painted except for the aforementioned white, grey, or black. For each ‘throwdown’, you bring the specified completed Warhammer unit to Hobby Night for judging. Here’s the schedule for Legio Army Throwdown II: Warhammer
* November 8th- Core
* November 22nd- Special
* December 6th- Army General
* December 20th- Core
* January 3rd- Rare
* January 17th- Wild Card (any previously undisplayed choice from your army)
* January 31st- Wild Card
* February 14th- Wild Card
For all participants who complete their Warhammer armies AND attend/display units at least four throwdowns, they are invited to the final judging Hobby Night on February 28th. There, everyone attending Hobby Night will enjoy free snacks and beverages, along with the chance to vote for their favorite army. The winner will receive a Purity Seal for their glorious victory, while the remainder will get framed certificates proving they completed the Army Throwdown. ‘Honor Badges’ will be added to certificates for winning previous throwdowns, attending all of them, etc. Either way, it’s a great way to stay motivated towards getting the army done. We’ll also post standings of all the competitors on the Legio blog, showing their attendance/progress.
So, get signed up and start collecting your army! You’ll have a blast, get an army done, and be ready for next year’s awesome Legio Warhammer campaign “Shadows over Nuln”
