DUST Tactics Game Night & Regional Tournament... Empty
PostSubject: DUST Tactics Game Night & Regional Tournament...   DUST Tactics Game Night & Regional Tournament... EmptyThu May 17, 2012 5:16 am

Nice to see the buzz already going around this game even though we haven't officially launched it yet Very Happy

I'm sure you already know by now, DUST comes in 2 different games using the same models - Tactics (board game with miniatures using terrain square terrain boards/tiles) and Warfare (miniatures rulebook).

DUST is essentially the successor of AT-43 which bombed primarily due to its price point (they were charging metal prices for plastic pre-painted) and poor management (by Rackham), a combination which eventually saw its death. People who played AT-43 actually thought it was quite good. In fact, if you read the background of DUST, it comes from the same roots as AT-43, so no surprise if the figures seem similar or share similar settings.

DUST Tactics has been in the market for almost 2 years now (the original core set was the big Starcraft size box) which was re-released in a smaller box (current box) in the 4th quarter of 2011.

Like all new games, we waited to see the response, and more importantly, the follow through with models, etc. The 3 major changes since its launch can be summarized here:
1. The point sizes have changed from the ones in the original set and early model releases. So, you should be aware that if you have models and stat cards from the 1st edition core set and the first few wave of models, they all have point costs calculated based on the original rules (1, 2, 3, etc). To use them with the latest rules, you can go online and download a list showing all models with their new point cost.

2. A 3rd faction has just been released (Sino-Soviets).

3. Warfare, rules for the miniatures game using the same models, have been released.

4. Game Nights and Regional Tournament Support for Tactics. *Note that this happened more than a year after Tactics was launched, so while I believe there will be similar support for Warfare, we may not see anything for a while.

The Warfare books just arrived last week and we are now awaiting the first batch of Soviet-Sino models before our official launch in Malaysia for DUST Tactics & Warfare - which is scheduled for 3-4 June. The official launch will be followed up with Game Nights for Tactics and the announcement of the Tactics Regional Tournament in July.

At the moment, the full range of core sets, expansions, Warfare book and models (other than Sino-Soviets) is in our warehouse (aka Toybox in Paramount Garden), but you'll have to ask for it since they are not going to be on public sale until 1 June, when it will roll out in hobby stores, and all Times and Borders stores.

Enjoy!
