Given the changes that one might make to the build of their army, magnetizing seems like a good idea.

BUT will it destroy the miniature or make it hard to paint?

Depends on models. Some are not worth the hassle to magnetize.

ICs
Dreadnought
Veterans
Tanks

hmm, most tutorials online show sm tac squads due to the many roles they play. do we shops that sell the stuff need?

should we paint before or after mahnetizing?

I'm probably not the right person to ask this because I keep it totally simple and straightforward. Generally I like to assemble my models as much as possible, and then paint them. Painting in sub-assemblies is good too. But what works for you really depends on what you're comfortable with.
