| I really like the ally rules. Always wanted to paint my marines in different colour other than Raven Guard, and play them together in 1750 games | |

| You can have Commisar Cain + Jurgen (melta vet) join the Reclamators Chapter now.
You can also build a pre-heresy Thousand Sons army by combining Vanilla SM with Grey Knights.
Or re-enact the Dawn of War: Dark Crusade PC game where the Eldar get Orks to help them.

| CSM and Daemons. Brother Allies.
I'll have Abaddon inside a Land Raider. Then BloodCrushers detachment deepstriked without scatter using his Chaos icon. Goes inside the land raider (coz is infantry). TAKE THAT! lolz

| Too bad no named HQ if not, can play Fateweaver. Abaddon and Fateweaver ROCKS!
No matter what, the best Ally in terms of benefits and point costs will be a Farseer. Give him Runes of Warding against Psykers, Mind War and Dooom. He will be like a default no-brainer ally. I forsee him being included into many armies in 6th ed.

| And no one talks about how cheesy GK or Necrons are anymore (no battle brothers), lol.
Though I'm wondering who here will definitely be using the allies rule for the ultimate combo. Any show of hands?
Also I'm considering whether these rules will break or balance the game more. Are they necessary for 40k or is it just a way for GW to make more money?
Tyranids don't get allies but gain different or maybe better rules for Monstrous Creature, rage becomes +2 attacks, jump infantries hit first. The rumour about move through cover may changed to ignoring terrain affects could be a major plus too. But are these rules enough to battle against flyers/fast skimmers/allied armies?
What if people don't want to play with allies? Would playing against a person who does has and would he have an advantage over them, since one would built a list to have all the strengths, but lessen the weaknesses in the army list?
Is fluff being raped as the internet has been complaining about? Should DE be able to ally with CWE? Can BT really ally with psyker armies? Why would Tau ally with Chaos Deamons? Or is all this whining is for naught and fluff will always be retcon by GW in some way in the future to incorporate new things?

| Personally I want to field my own units as much as possible, if I have to consider sacrificing points to make way for an Eldar or Space Marine units in lieu of my favourite Tau Battlesuits, I'd rather fight at an disadvantage then enlist help from them.
Though, I believe Legio will use and modify these allies rules for the next next Kindred?

| Let's not look at the allies rule in a 'broken combo galore' way (which everyone is doing for fun ) but let's look at it as unlocking new army combos we've all heard about in fluff, but have never seen on the battlefield before. For example, Eldar Corsairs, using only open-topped Dark Eldar vehicles and Reavers, and Jetbikes, Swooping Hawks or Spiders from Eldar. Or a Chaos Cultist army, using IG to combo with Chaos Daemons. In this case, use a Primaris Psyker or Commisar as a cult leader, and Penal Legions, etc. Even Tau with human auxillaries, in the form of IG platoons and tanks. EDIT: As T.Hijiri suggested above, even a Mechanicus army can be built using a combo of SM and IG forces. Personally I see it as an opportunity to expand my Dark Eldar Haemonculi List with 'more devious flesh experiments that come en masse to sweep the tabletop' - in other words, Orks Of course, very very modified Orks. | |

| well i for one will definitely add the brother Eldar into my DE ranks namely the farseer on jetbike i agree with dann, jokes aside this gives a lot of opportunities to build armies you taught of using bfr but couldn't. My astral claw army will definitely be happy to ally with ig. And my DE will definitely ally with the eldar... GW did a smart thing by allowing allies, players will be tempted to cross over and build more than 1-2 armies, and since i am going to have a eldar detachment why not add a whole eldar force while i am at it For my eldar allies i am thinking of doing.... a full venom and vyper army with 2 razorwings and a eldar jetbike squad with a farseer | |

| Oh, I'm not saying the allies rules is broken, I'm just encouraging more productive analysis than just listing out the possibilities of which army combos is best. I welcome the new change, but I wish to know how to strategize against it.
I'm mainly suggesting how are people that don't or can't utilize the allies rules will able to fair against people who do use the allies detachment. I'd like to see what is the view and advice from our community besides the international forums which don't necessarily reflect Malaysian attitude towards the game.

| 10 CSM termies with Fateweaver. Even better than Fatecrusher to be honest since there is such a huge change to the Wound Allocation rules.

| Allies I have looked over it though and I can see no limitations on special characters named/independant or otherwise.
interestingly even battle brothers (best tupe) cannot embark in allied transports although they act as friendly/models of same army for practically everything else (i.e. IC joining and psychic powers)
If special characters can be used as allies? can you benefit from there special rules such as fateweaver letting you re-roll saves? 1) yes 2)if you are battle brothers yes, any other type of ally - no
Allies: one allied detachment per primary detachment (so at 2000 points where you can take two primary detachments, if you take a second primary detachment you can also take a second allied detachment, although as you can imagine this will chew up a lot of points)
There is no indication that this is not for normal games, so yes this is for standard games

| I've read the Farseer psychic powers, how can you cast Fortune or Guide on allies when it specifically says "Eldar units"?
However, I hint, powers from rulebook don't specify like this, so yeah you can replace your eldar powers with those instead.
Similarly like the markerlights, only Tau units benefit from it, kroots or vespids without strainleaders can't so I assume allies can't either.
