| Just had my 3rd game with the Codex CSM-Daemons alliance of evil several hours ago. I went to Kadir's house at 1 a.m., started gaming about half an hour later, & we finished the game at 5 a.m. & I'm still wide awake!! Maybe my blood is still thrilled with the game ! I played with my 4.1 army list with the exception of not including any Slaaneshi unit..I swap the Daemonettes with a unit of 10 Bloodletters instead. Mission: The Scouring Deployment: Pitch Battle Warlord Traits: Mine was Lord of Terror (really-really wasted cause my DP already causes Fear, while Kadir's RG-SW army has ATSKNF) Warlord's Gift of Mutation: Mechanoid (armour sv improves by 1) Warlord's Spells: Tzeentch's Firestorm, Smite & EnduranceBloodthirster's Exalted Reward: Grimoire of True Names Bloodthirster's Greater Reward: Corpulescence (+1W & It Will Not Die) Blood Reaper's Lesser Reward : Etherblade Game Summary:-It was among the better games I've had against Kadir, especially against his super cc army of RG-SW combo. He deployed 1st, but I managed to seized the initiative. Yet I failed to get 1st blood, which he was quick to capitalised by charging my Oblits in Turn 2. The game was really bloody back & forth in each player turn I hesitated at 1st with my DP & BT, thus costing me my Warlord as early as Turn 2. I was also quite surprised by the cultists units - they can shoot quite well, but getting 5+ to wound was quite a difficult task. The Skull Cannon did fairly well, but I still couldn't get enuff hits even when the stuff was shooting at BS5. It managed to help the BT & Bloodletters to charge AK's aslt termies at normal initiative, killed the majority of his Ferinsian Wolf-blob, penetrate his Storm Raven..etc..At only 125pts, it's not bad. Blood Thirster was the main FMC. The super pricy DP didn't give the return that I expected. Maybe I should have just stick with only a Khorne DP set-up, cheaper & less complicated. End result: Although I nearly annihilated his army, Kadir managed to win by getting 4-3pts. If only we get to go to Turn 6, then I would have been able totally destroy his army (only 2 tac-marines & 1 Lone Wolf left on the table). Alas, the game stopped at Turn 5..but such is the nature of the dice rolling - fortune is fickle indeed! | |

| really crazy brothers! lolz
maybe since your CSM DP is so darn expensive being a mastery level 3, you should opt to have him with burning brand instead of a daemon weapon. i wouldn't risk him on ground and in combat. rather have him fly around toasting stuff and hurting enemies with spells or buffing friendly units with spells. let the heavy lifting done by the Bloodthirster.

| One thing that I also learn from the midnight 3rd game is that multi-colored chaos army are too complicated for me. The 350pt-DP of Tz hogged too much attention but didn't give return investment on par with its pt cost.
So I think I'll just play a Khorne-Nurgle CSM-Daemons army as follows:-
Version 4.2: Iron Warriors and The Cult of Skulls & Pestilence
Primary Detachment: Chaos Space Marines
HQ 1. Huron Blackheart - Warlord
2. Daemon Prince: Mark of Khorne, Power Armour, Wings, Gift of Mutation, Axe of Blind Fury
TROOPS 1. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber
2. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber
FAST ATTACK 1. Helldrake: Baleflamer
HEAVY SUPPORTS 1. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War
2. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War
3. Forgefiend: 3 x Ectoplasma Cannons
Allied Detachment: Chaos Daemons
HQ 1. Bloodthirster: Warpforge Armour, Lash of Khorne, Axe of Khorne, 1 Exalted Reward, 1 Greater Reward
TROOP 1. 18 Bloodletters: Upgrade 1 BL to Blood Reaper with 1 Lesser Reward
HEAVY SUPPORT 1. Skull Cannon of Khorne

| Had 2 games yesterday. I brought my 2k list as planned, when suddenly Alvin told us that the latest news is that the December tournament is going to be played at 1850pts instead. The good thing is that I can save a bit on my financial budget, but alas, my dream of fielding 9 oblits + 3 DPs + 1 Bloodthirster is crushed la ... I had to modify my army list a bit since it was 1850pts:- Primary Detachment: Chaos Space Marines
HQ 1. Huron Blackheart - Warlord 2. Daemon Prince: Mark of Khorne, Power Armour, Wings, Gift of Mutation, Axe of Blind Fury TROOPS 1. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber 2. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber FAST ATTACK 1. Helldrake: Baleflamer HEAVY SUPPORTS 1. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War 2. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War 3. 6 Havocs: Mark of Slaanesh, VoTLW, Icon of Excess, 4 x Autocannons Allied Detachment: Chaos Daemons
HQ 1. Bloodthirster: Warpforge Armour, Lash of Khorne, Axe of Khorne, 1 Exalted Reward, 1 Greater Reward TROOP 1. 19 Bloodletters: Upgrade 1 BL to Blood Reaper TOTAL = 1848pts 1st Game: Against BLee's Smurfs Marines
He had sth a bit like these:- - Captain in Power Armour, P-Fist & TH - 5 Aslt Termies with TH & SS in Land Raider - 2 sqs of 10 regular SM: each with a Lascnn (combat squaded) + Las-Plas Razorbacks - 2 Land Speeder Typhoons - 2 Auto-Las Predators - Command Sqd with 4 meltaguns & Apothecary in D-Pod -Thunderfire Cannon Mission: Crusade - we rolled & got 3 primary objectives Deployment: Vanguard Strike - I deployed 1st Night-Fighting in 1st Turn Bloodthirster's rewards: Soul Eater (may gain extra W on 2+ in cc if caused unsaved wounds) & Dark Blessing (re-roll failed invul-svs) Daemon Prince's Gift of Mutation: Blade of Chaos - gained Fleshbane (which kinda sucky since he's already at S8) Game Summary:- I managed to rolled a 5 for Huron's d3 Infiltrators, so I awarded the skill to himself (who joins an Oblits sqd), Havocs & the Bloodletters. I thought that I had things my way since I managed to infiltrate my Havocs & BL-blob on his right flank 18" away while Huron + 3 Oblits infiltrating 18" on his left flank. The 2nd Oblit sqd, BT & DP & cultists were in the centre behind a big ruin. I was just ready to start moving my BL-blob (which I planned to run forward in the shooting phase later on), when BLee said "I want to try seizing the intiative" and promptly rolled a 6! ALAMAK!! Needless to say that put quite a dent on my plan with his Cmnd Sqd D-podding next to my BT while his TFC destroyed 1 sqd of cultists. My BLs were reduced by 7-8 guys Typhoon & Las-Plas-Back concentrated efforts, while 1 of Huron's Oblits killed by the 2nd Las-plas-Back. The only sweet thing was that his Cmnd Sqd totally whiffed with their melta shots at my BT, yet managed to cause only a single wound from a thrown Krak Grenade. My DP then glided towards his LR (which had moved 6" closer to the centre previously) but failed to reach it in the aslt phase. Later on BLee shot him till he had only 1 wound remaining. BT took care of the Cmnd Sqd, buffing up his W stats & became a W8 FMC BWAHAHAHA!!! Still, he took quite a long time (3 combat phases) to finish the Cmnd Sqd since my dice rolls were pretty bad. 2nd Oblits took out 1st Predator with triple-Las shots, while Huron & his 2 Oblits forgo shooting in-favour of charging a combat sqd of SM. Huron won his challenge (YEAAAHHH !!), but was later turned to a Spawn when I rolled on the Chaos Boon Table ( WTF !!!!!!) Another funny thing was when his Captain & Aslt Termies charged 1W DP. He didn't want to declare any challenge, so I made my counter challenge which he declined. So I put his Captain out of combat, & killed 3 of his termies. His remaining termies failed to hit my DP. In the 2nd combat phase, I issue challenge again, this time his Captain accepted, but my DP insta-gibbed the poor fellow. In the 3rd combat phase, I issue challenge yet again & his Termie-Sgt accepted (otherwise he couldn't atk while my atks would still be able to kill him), & was promptly killed. The last aslt termy was finally killed in the turn after that. My DP survived bwahahaha !!!..... ....and was later shot down by a Typhoon's Krak missiles... And when Helldrake made its appearance, with the concentrated effort of my Oblits, Havocs + my 8W-BT charging, I annihilated his army while claiming 1 primary objective. CSM-Daemons Scores: 1 Primary Obj + Slay the Warlord + Linebreaker (my BT) = 5pts BLee's SM: First Blood = 1pt. 2nd Game: Against Shaun's Dark AngelsRemark: Pls see Shaun's report (I dah penat menaip keyboard) Comment: His Contemptor Dread gila OP!! Next time, the only way I can think of to try to take it out is by infiltrating Huron accompanied by Oblits somewhere close to it in order to nuke the pesky bugger! If that's not enuff, the 2nd Oblits sqd will target it as well. If it is not destroyed early, then my Bale-drake is a gonner. Oh..I forgot to mention..Huron was turned to a Spawn yet again in this 2nd game.. Maybe I should rename him to Huron Spawn-heart instead of Blackheart... Overall review:- 1. I think I might want to rethink my Daemons Troop choice. The big blob of BLs are good for target distraction, but they die like crazy being T3. Sure they have AP3 sword, but have no resiliency. I need to try sth else..maybe Plaguebearers since they have T4 + Shrouded to hide in ruins & claim obj. 2. I'll try the Black Mace next time. I didn't realize that it is a Daemon Weapon as well - the extra +d6 atks are really awesome! With Eldar W-Lords & W-Knights being T8, being able to wound on 2+ is a must have. 3. I'll try Huron again. He has funky rules, but they are too random. If he keeps turning to a Spawn, then I might just let him go and get that 2nd Bale-drake, or a Soul Grinder, or a 2nd Daemon Prince...or better yet, play Abad-Din The Din-spoiler!!!

| CikguDin... I would definately want a rematch or failing that to play more Daemons or Xenos players... will need to play against something other than MEQ... Anyways, I lost my Termies and Captain due to 2 things: 1) I did not know that your DP has a special weapons that grants +D6 attack on top of the +2 Strength modifier 2) My 3+ invul saves were like crap My Comd Sqd was sucky with the failed melta shots as well... seriously fail... In general, the game was hampered by my dice not working with me on which are the more important rolls. I had a combat squad that until the Heldrake arrived was unwoundable... I rolled like 5s for their armour saves... I'm like what was that for when it should have been for my termis... To make things sadly amusing was that my Drop Pod failed its 3+ cover saved and had its only weapon destroyed...Also, when I decided to charge the DP (5 inch away) instead of the Bloodthrister (10 inch away) which was further, I rolled double 6s... What durh... I'm like why?! Ok, I so I have some placement issues as well but the most important thing was that I think I need more quality time with my dices... LOL... I think they tengah merajuk with me... Anyway, like I said CikguDin... kau tunggu... | |

| Hahaha!! Maybe it was just my day during our match. Lets have a rematch some other time.
I also have some things that I need to work out with my army, especially the Daemonic Troops. Instead of Bloodletters, I'm seriously thinking of taking Plaguebearers instead.

| I've renamed the post title, since the army size is no longer fixed at 2k.
So, the latest list I'm putting now is my very 1st Desperate Alliance list. I've never done it before. My plan is simple, just send my desperate ally forward to screw my enemy - they are expendables.
The Cult of Change & Pestilence with their Eldar Slaves Primary Detachment: Chaos Space Marines
HQ 1. Daemon Prince: Mark of Tzeetch, Power Armour, Wings, Gift of Mutation, The Black Mace, Psyker (Mastery Lvl.3)
TROOPS 1. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber
2. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns
FAST ATTACK 1. Helldrake: Baleflamer
HEAVY SUPPORTS 1. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War
2. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War
3. 2 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War
Secondary Detachment: Eldar Slaves HQ 1. Avatar of Khaine: Upgrade with Fast Shot & Disarming Strike
TROOPS 1. 6 Dire Avengers: Avenger Shuriken Catapults
HEAVY SUPPORT 1. Wraithknight: Suncannon, 1 x Scatter Laser, Scattershield

| My fluff is like this:-
The Avatar is a Daemon, right? Who else can change & influence its alignment other than the power of Tzeentch - The Changer of Ways?!
Rather capturing an original Avatar, my Daemon Prince captured the Exarch from the Dire Avengers sqd. Then he forcefully imbue the Exarch with a stolen shard of the Bloody-Handed God, only that this particular shard has been infused with a bound greater daemonic essence - thus corrupting it.
The experiment was a success, and the Exarch has been reborn into daemonhood, except that it is no longer known as The Avatar of Khaine - tortured, degraded, corrupted & finally descended into madness, I'd rather call it an Avatar of Khorne!
Other changes:- - Dire Avengers => Dark Avengers - Wraithknight => Daemonic Wraithknight a.k.a Dark Knight - Karandras => Terkandas - Guardian Defenders => Guardian Ravagers

| Which Daemon Prince set-up is better?
I can't seem to make my decision what set-up to use. So far I've tested the Khorne DP with AoBF to good success. But other combination seems nice as well, though rather pricey.
Currently i'm looking at Nurgle DP. Why? When swooping they gain 3+ cover sv. Hiding behind most terrain will also grant them 3+ cover sv (can even be 2+).
The options taken:- 1. From CSM: DP - Mark of Nurgle, Gift of Mutation, Black Mace, Armour & Flight, Psyker Lvl.3 (1 x Lore of Nurgle spell, 2 x Biomancy spells) => 350pts
2. From Chaos Daemons: DP of Nurgle, Armour & Flight, 2 Greater Rewards (change 1 into Balesword & keeping the other) & 1 Lesser Reward (change into Plague Flail), Psyker Lvl.3 (all Biomancy spells) => 345pts
As you can see, both are very expensive. The former has more potential # of attacks, 7 - 12 atks when charging, fleshbane & curse special rule, plus Hatred (Space Marines).
The latter has 7 atks when charging, can choose either striking at +1S & Contagion, or dishing out poison (4+) atks with instant death & Touch of Rust. He also has defensive grenades.
Hopefully both will get the all important Biomancy spell - Iron Arm. Other interesting Biomancy spells include Endurance, Life Leech & Warp Speed.

| Had 2 games since yesterday. 1st game at the Legio, with the following army list:- Primary Detachment: Chaos Space MarinesHQ 1. Daemon Prince: Mark of Nurgle, Power Armour, Wings, Gift of Mutation, Black Mace, Psyker Lvl.3 TROOPS 1. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns & 1 Heavy Stubber 2. Cult Champion & 9 Chaos Cultists: Autoguns ELITES 1. Hellbrute: T/L Reaper Autocannon, Heavy Flamer 2. Hellbrute: Plasma Cannon FAST ATTACK 1. Helldrake: Baleflamer HEAVY SUPPORTS 1. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War 2. 3 Obliterators: Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of The Long War 3. 6 Havocs: 4 x Autocannons, Veterana of The Long War Allied Detachment: Chaos DaemonsHQ 1. Daemon Prince: Mark of Nurgle, Power Armour, Wings, 2 Greater Rewards, 1 Lesser Reward, Psyker Lvl.3 TROOP 1. 3 Nurglings TOTAL = 1848pts Mission: Recon Deployment: Pitch Battle I played wrongly, in that 1 placed a sqd of 10 Plaguebearers instead of the 3 Nurglings. For that, would like to apologize to my opponent, Jin-Black Templar. The good thing was the 10 Plaguebearers didn't do anything, nor they didn't get shot at, or claiming any of the objectives - thus they didn't affect the game at all. On paper, my army should eat his BT army for breakfast, but the reality was he did pretty well, especially with his shooting & invul svs. For instance, sniping my swooping Daemons DPoN & causing 1 wound from bolt pistols. Or when his Chaplain Warlord made 5 x 4+ invul svs from instant kill atks by the wounded DPoN & killing the same said DPoN with just 2 Powerfist atks (granted that the DPoN had already lost 3 wounds prior to the challenge)! In the end, I narrowly won the game by scoring an obj worth 4pts, 1st blood & linebreaker. My opponent scored an obj worth 2pts. Personal comment: This list is too complicated with too many spells needed to cast & keep track. Still, its a very fun game, especially when both DPoN managed to get the all important Iron Arm spell mwahahaha!!! ***************************************************************
2nd game - at the Hobby Forge v/s a fellow CSM player (sorry dude I didn't catch your name, so I'll just call you Hensem Guy #2). The list that I used was as follows:- Primary detachment: Chaos Space MarinesHQ 1. Huron Blackheart - Warlord 2. Typhus TROOPS 1. 7 Plague Marines: 2 Meltaguns, Champion with 2 x Combi-Meltas, Gift of Mutation 2. 10 Plague Zombies FAST ATTACK 1. Helldrake: Baleflamer HEAVY SUPPORTS 1. 3 Obliterators: MoN, VoTLW 2. 3 Obliterators: MoN, VoTLW 3. 2 Obliterators: MoN, VoTLW Allied Detachment: Chaos DaemonsHQ 1. Bloodthirster: 2 Greater Rewards, 1 Lesser Reward TROOP 1. 10 Plaguebearers TOTAL = 1850pts Mission: Purge The Aliens Deployment: Pitch Battle It was my 1st time using Typhus, & although he's not that beastly in combat, he enables me to bring in 2 types of very interesting units - the Plague Marines & the Plague Zombies. Both of these units were damn tough, especially against enemy shooting. The Plague Zombies even managed to defy a torrent of fire from a CSM sqd + Ahriman relentless spellcasting!! Banzai for a super-cheap sqd with FnP!! The Plague Marines also became the fire-magnet as they were supposed to be. I infiltrated them, but doe to lack of big ruins for terrains (we only had some hills & barricades & moonscape craters for terrains), I had to infiltrate them 18" away. Interestingly, his DPoN wielded The Murder Sword, nominated my Bloodthirster as the target, & managed to assault this greater daemon of Khorne. Luckily the Bloodthirster's initiative was 9 while the DP's was 8, so he got to strike 1st with 4 x S10 smash attacks. 1 failed sv later, his DP was instant-killed. Final results:- Huron's team scored: 1st Blood, Linebreaker, Slay the Warlord, 3 CSM sqds, 1 Rhino, 1 Hellbrute, 1 Defiler, 1 HQ = 10pts. Ahriman's team scored: Slay the Warlord, 1 Plague Zombies sqd, 1 Plague Marines sqd = 3pts. Next time, I want to try Abaddon pulak.
