Was looking at my army while painting them yesterday.

After the last few games I realize that I could do with more boots on the ground and my Devilfish and hammerheads which I realize I got a lot off all just collecting dust, could do with some loving... So figured my allied contingent will be mechanized lead by an ethereal. Since I, learn recently that the ethereal gives his ability to the whole army not one unit which is what I have been doing.. in other words 20 fire warriors rapid firing is 60 S5 shots... I Kept the broadsides aside for now, they are the MVP of most of my games but, for this trial they will sit it out... wanna try something different than those same 3 guys.

Thank god this Monday was pretty easy at work. Fired up army builder and started playin Very Happy

I think it Will help me a lot... I had to drop my fav unit the broadsides which was amounting to 260 points... I spread that around now the army feels more mobile and more importantly not too static... But I do worry a bit tho. I got less S7 shots by A LOT Sad

Had two games with lan today at hobby forge.

First game was super short, lan conceded in turn 2... basically he had first turn but he could not take down my guys, I position half my army in reserve since I am fighting a mechanized eldar my best chance was to deepstrike my suits behind his army and do damage from the rear. By turn two did not lose a unit yet but both his bike units were decimated by the tau.

Second game was better we were at deadlock till turn 2 both taking heavy casualties. The turning point was in my turn 2 my suits deepstrikr to where they needed to be but the dice gods really hurt me bad. I just manage a singlr glance vs his whole army... things were spiraling out of control for me and my commander just refused to join the fight which stop me from sending the much needed markerlights to start removing his vehicles. Anyway I conceeded at the end of turn 3... since by then it was too impossible to remove his tanks.

Overall this new tau list is much more fun vs the old static more powerful list. The firewarriors are insanely good in those numbers they easily dispatched the vipers very early in the game. The heavy burst cannon earthcaste riptide was awesome!

Those were awesomely brutal battles! Hindsight is always awesome and I realized that in the first battle, my jetbikes should have just turbo-boost to in front of the wall opposite your pathfinders, thereby reducing the amount of markerlights on them. They would have survived actually. Anyways, the second game was equally brutal. I noticed both our armies can easily take out entire units each turn - which is exactly what happened. And again, the Eldar mobility is really crazy. In the first game it led to the army's destruction, in the second game it led to victory.

A bunch of firsts last night. The Windriders were finally beaten for the first time. I finally won a game vs the new Tau w the new Eldar for the first time. My Vyper squadron was finally destroyed for the first time. First time I used jinx, which really helped to take down that Riptide w the insane amount of shots.

We must fight again!

No la, just felt more brutal cause we were playing very aggressively which was quite rare for a tau. It was good to see a new way to play my tau. N very brutal too!

Had a game with the new marines vs Nahri salamander army.

I lost that game but I really need a rematch as the roles and stupid mistakes cause me the game. The new marnes look really fun I dont think its over powered. The chapter abilities really adds flavour to the armies.

Using the advice I got from my fellow wargaming buddies and play testing I wanna tweak my list a little. The Ideas for the army is base on suggestions to drop the devilfishes x2 I use and maximized on more weapons. The last list was super brittle and made worse when I start second. Which the last 3 games I started second, which made me opt to deploy half my units in reserve (mainly the suits) which made my army seriously weak for the first two turns. And in two games the reserve detachment fail to arrive at the most critical point of the game.

Another Insight after 17 games now with the Tau is that pathfinders are just too brittle to be a markerlight source. They are the first to die, and now with so many things that just ignore cover, they just get leaf blown. Offering free KP and if relied on a fast way to lose out a key unit for us Tau commanders to own the opponent.

With that In mind I was thinking on how to maximized my guns on the ground and also, add more quality BS5 markerlights. So I got less markers but hits on 2+ instead of 4+

With that I am deploying my V3.5 Tau Empire + Farsight Enclave.

the commander unit has 7 bs5 marker lights, got another 2 bs5 marker lights on the fire blades, n the pathfinders got 3. not much.

I might drop the pathfinder and carry anothrr squad of firewarriors

Had a game vs su kai ultramarines n my first taste of the new goodies from that dex the centurions I fought were armed with twin heavy bolter n missiles. It was ok but Kinda ignore them till the last turn cause I was concentrating on removing his calgar n 10 terminators n another 5 assault terminators n the painful thunder fire cannon. He plays min troops 5 scouts, and min marine units which were easily dispatched even one small one that hid behind Los blocking terrain. One of my ion tides ripple fire it's SMS removing them in two turns.

I won that game! But it was super hard cause of the first three turns were very bad I lost both crisis teams, a firewarrior team, n started second. N he rolled amazingly vs the ion tides. What turn it for me was the timely arrival of the plasma crisis team which scored 10 wounds vs his terminators n calgar with only 4 left plus the boss himself. Once those were out of the picture the rest of the army was easily dealt with.

sorry Razz wrong person Razz YEA AND THOSE TERMIES HAD FNP TOO cause it hug the relic!... For two turns it just shrug off my Ions Till my fireblade fired 36 Shots at bs5 removing 4 and then the crisis team (now I know why they are called crisis teams!) landed in turn 4 and plasma them all to hell at BS5

Anyway I was playing this List which I built after nahri gave me some good suggestions on fixing my army. BUT I miss counted I had 50 points extra lol!

I LOVE THIS LIST! but can someone suggest me what to do with 50 points? Thinking of replacing the kroot which means I got 110 points to play with..

I am thinking either a SMS Sky ray or just add shield drones on my troop crisis teams since ppl love to kill them for 50pts I can get 4 of those

Working towards the big end of the year legio tourney now. Thinking of bringing some non usual suspects into the fight, namely my 3 Hammerheads. I just realize that they are BS4 instead of 3... Been thinking and rolling base on BS3 for my skyrays for the longest time now..

I guess the biggest appeal to this list, is the x5 big blast templates. Although A bit worried bout fighting daemons!
