i'm not gonna restrict my planning - marines are flexible this way hehehe. Depends on the situation I suppose. I think for most games, they'd be empty.

| Okaylah tu. One Storm Raven is strong enough to tear my DE army apart. So 2 is almost an autowin lah which means the list is good enough lar bro . But I'm more interested with a 1750 list. I know it was due to Nov Tourney, but are we so tourney oriented as to play 1.5k all the time? My DE is looking forward to a rematch with the Longinus Initiative | |

| we hardly get to play that often. and 6th ed is still pretty new to us. my vote goes to 1.5k due to 1 big reason only. shorter game time. shorter games>more games>more exp to 6th>better prepared for Tourney | |

And I only hv one Sergeant I will be coming to HF on Saturday

| @Joe: Seriously, if Legio set the limit at 1750, I'm sure none of you would think to play 1.5k regardless of the points you raised. But I'm not here to argue aything. Just saying that if it were me, I'd choose 1750 games all the time since it is more fun compares to 1.5k that is played simply because of tournament rules set.
When the tourney came, just send a list and roll dices.
@Dann : Base solely on looks, I think Sanguinor fit your army very well. Now not only you have Dante's Curse, but Sanguinor's Blessings as well.
Where goes your 'Flying' DC Dread?

| I don't think veterans will have a problem with playing with the new rules, 250 points extra units won't really mean much for space marine players, maybe two to three units perhaps. What would slow down the game is fortification/terrain setup, rolling for warlord traits/psychic disciplines, and mysterious terrains/objectives. I would believe the TOs will make life easier by setting up terrains whilst letting the people only deploy their fortifications afterwards, mysterious terrains/objectives will be specified rather then roll for it perhaps. The phases itself has not changed dramatically, considering we have a lot of experienced and frequent players, it'll be only a matter of time the rules will be at our fingertips again and 3 months is a lot of time to find yourself an hour or two to read the book. If I recall correctly, don't Legio organise "hobby" tourneys? | |

| Kindred is a Hobby Tournament, but the Annual Year-end RTT is not. Which means, the upcoming 1500pts tournament is all about your generalship. That being said, the normal standard of WYSIWYG and 3-colours minimum still applies. | |

| My flying dread has to be shelved temporarily not too happy that blood talons are kinda... not termie-killie now. What I also don't like is that sanguinor and dante's weapons are only AP3. *grumble* | |

| Actually I think you need the Dread-talons, after looking at your list long enough, you're really good at killing space termies and vehicles, but not hordes.
May you show how are you going to go about your army in terms of strategies and tactics?

| strat and tacts? it's not an exact science here... it all depends on the opponent i face.
For example, it could be entirely foot-slogging if facing daemons (except my storm ravens duh)
For a turtle army, I could put dante + sanguinary guards in 1 raven, and put 1 sanguinary priest and another unit of sanguinary guards in the other raven (effectively leaving only 1 sanguinary priest and the assault squad for reserve considerations). I then split the assault squad so that the meltas and p fist are in one unit and the rest are in the other. I put the s. priest with the metlas/pfist group and deep-strike them, leaving only one unit of 5 assault squad members on the table.

| I would assume that one assault squad has to be in hiding on the first turn in order for it to not die then.
Don't rely on your stormravens to carry your uber expensive unit. One wreck or explodes means everything in it dies, no armours save, instant death, no feel no pain.
Nevertheless, it doesn't solve your horde problem, whilst you're hoping everything will turn up on turn two.

| yes of course i'm aware of the risks, but to get to a turtle army, i need to be fast and transported... but rmbr i don't have to be flying high... what horde? have you seen a horde army since 4th ed other than nids? And when have you seen terminators struggle against termagants? Orks? Assault only la what's the sweat? Name me another horde army i should be worried about. Then name me a player who plays it. | |

| In other words, you just admitted your army's potential weakness is against horde.
Maybe where you regularly play or play against, I don't think there would be many horde players. But your going to join the legio tourney, where all sorts of people gather. Where there is going to be some IG (Heavy Teams/Leman Russes), DE(Skimmers), Orks, Tyranids etc. It's not a guarantee there will be, but it's high possibility.
Orks are fearless, which means if you can't reduce their numbers below 10, your stuck with them, can't sweep them either.
Your SR is going to be only near invulnerable if there are no fortification or flyers, until they disembark your units, which it becomes a fast skimmer. Of course the counter argument would be, they have already done their job. But the problem would be if their dead, your long ranged anti-tank will be gone.
You know necrons are pretty close to being a horde army, considering they can spam warriors a lot. You might consider testing your list against Joe's or Javin(?)'s necrons. Your powerfists, meltaguns, lascannons, inferno pistols aren't much of a threat. Because most of their high valued units have either the RP to come back again, or they have the 3++ saves to negate.
Maybe Alvin, a really good BA player that almost always pwns anyone with his BA, can give a better advice, since I face a lot of BA players but don't often win against much. Remember, it's not just the number of models per unit you need to worry but the number of units you need to look at. How many units can you effectively destroy in one turn.
The amount of units you have in your army is comparable to a Draigo-wing, but not the eliteness nor toughness it has.

Um... no. I'm saying I highly doubt hordes are gonna be popular in a tourney scene. I can probably name one horde player who would be willing to lug around more than 50 models, deploy, pack, deploy pack for 3 - possibly 5 games. On the off-chance I meet him in the tourney, you can say I told you so. And most importantly, possibly the biggest reason why the last few posts have sailed past my head since Lord AK suggested Sanguinor: I don't care if I lose. My army is gonna look friggin' awesome!

| The horde player's problem is his to deal with. Whether or not it's a hassle doesn't really matter. You misunderstand me, you're comparatively outnumbered by most armies at that point limit, most armies will look like horde compared to yours, regardless whether it is actual horde or not. - dann.toh wrote:

If you've said that 5 posts earlier, I wouldn't need to put out my opinion now, do I? My first reply would have just been, "Yeah, your army looks cool, bro, just go with whatever you like and be awesome and golden at the tourney!"

| lol, just love it when Jake is involved in any discussion! Love you bro! By the way, my necrons are not horde style so can't be used for bench marking. And after having several tournaments under my belt, I do agree with Dann that players do tend to move away from horde due to the time constraint. Nevertheless, Dann! ..this might be interesting to see. 3 AV10 Dakkajet dogfighting 2 Stormravens!! Due to mobility and amount of AP1/2 shooting this army has, I doubt the list will have problem against 2+ armour other than Assault Terminators (who don't anyway ) with their 3+ invul. But in that case, they can just fly away from them an concentrate on killing the troops. Come lar Dann.. play your Dread. My Wyches got things to settle with it | |
