Earlier editions of this list included Urien Rakarth, but I think I'm going to drop him in favour of more units.

On table will only be 4 raiders. Everything else in reserve.
Haemi Ancient joins the Grotesques, Haemi joins the 9 wracks.
One unit will drop the WWP at 12 inches while the other zooms 24+2D6 inches to the enemy.
On turn 2 that unit will drop the 2nd WWP.
2 portals will let in 3 Talos Engines, 2 Scourge units and 1 Beastmaster unit.

Comments? Thoughts?

I dont think any of the Raiders needed upgrades other than Aethersails or Throphy Racks. They'll most prolly be destroyed in the 1st shooting phase. Even Aethersails was in question for your list because you'll want to activate all WWP in Turn 1 for more option.

Even by moving The Raider 12 inches in the 1st turn, your WWP can effectively reach 21 inches from your starting point. That is more than enough distance for your reserves to assault upon entering, especially for the monsters with their large bases

I wonder why you take Acothyst on the small units..

owh hey dann, about the scourges its 3 to 1 special weapon so you need 6 to carry 2 heatlances same with the reavers

i was thinking of saving the points on my raiders' upgrades too... but that's only... 25pts, which doesn't buy me too much. Maybe a decent weapon for my Haemonculi. I'll consider it la.

I take Acothyst cuz that's the only way I get to buy the Hexrifle. Or I could drop the Acothyst and buy 1 extra wrack and a liquifier gun each.


Hey pax, it's 2 special weapons for every five models la. Not the same as Reavers.

Hexrifle is good on paper only. It might work, but not most of the time.
IMO, liquifier gun is several times better than hexrifle.

25pts may not seems huge. But from my experience, when our 80pts Raider got blowned up by the very 1st shooting, we then realized that we should've kept it at 65 pts. The fact is, our plane is much too fragile making any attempt to boost it's survivability seems futile.

For your list, better use that points to beef up the elements that will be coming from the WWP.

hmm... good point about the falling flyers... after all, these aren't falcons.

I think I'll give Aethersails to my Grotesques/Haemi Ancient Raider and use the other leftover points to buy an Agoniser for my regular Haemi.

I'll boost my Wracks' numbers and give them Liquifier guns instead.

On another note... what is everyone's opinions about Grotesques? Just realized that there's A LOT of points in just 4 models...

Grotesques should be awesome in your list. They'll look like the big daddies of the army.

You MUST keep the grotesque! Just for fluff reason hahaha..
Seriously, I never tried any grotesque so cannot comment anything on it. I haven't even look through their stats very seriously. Maybe I should do that just to help you out.

After adjusting the points, I've found I can field one HUGE unit of Beastmasters - that's 60 rending attacks on a charge. Ouch!

The 3 Grotesques in a raider is a bit meehh la.
Either take full squad put in reserve to come out from Webway Portal or discard them to take more Beasts or Wracks. At least I'll be doing that if I were you la.

I know they are a bit mehhh but i hv to use them cuz I'm making them for a certain upcoming tourney that needs all slots to be filled up.


As an aside, they are the same pts as 9 wracks, just no PW, higher strength, not poisoned, more tougher...

I agree with Joe on the grotesques.. but then again, none of us have ever tried them yet. I think you really should try out your list quick. Coven list seems challenging to play.

especially hard to play considering that scourges n beastmasters are not technically part of a coven. if it was a pure coven i only hv haemonculi, wracks, grotesques, talos n cronos to play with.


scorges and webway portals are the only thing i added for pure competitive purposes. everything else is fluff-based.

beastmasters i wanted to add so i can do some fun conversions

if u are playing beastmasters, i do recommend playing kymeras and 1 clawed fiend.
can really increase the durability of the unit by wound allocation.

perhaps I'd consider one clawed fiend - the only thing that bugs me about clawed fiends is that they are worth 1 beastmaster and 2 razorwing flocks

u can use it to absorb those ID wounds mar.

hmm... i'd need something good to use as a clawed fiend. No way I'm getting that fine-cast one. anything from fantasy i can use?

got... can try ogres either a gorger or a yhetee

hmm..
the new VC kit you used for Grotesques appears to be a perfect fit for Clawed Fiends..
the Tyranid Warrior torso is a nice base to start..
or maybe Lizardmen' Kroxigor if it's to your liking..
or Ogre Kingdom's Yeti..
Confrontation's Wulfen or WM/H's Warpwolf would look nice too..

Updated for 6th ed. Gonna forgo the Webway Portal altogether, and just do an entire foot slogging army.

Biggest change is I'll be using Urien Rakarth and 9 Grotesques.
